Lisa Andrew Dubs

Ms. Dubs attended Wake Forest School of Law and was admitted to the NC Bar in 1987.  She was a Public Defender in Scotland and Hoke Counties until 1996 when she returned to her hometown of Hickory, NC and opened her own law firm.  In addition to her time as a Public Defender, Ms. Dubs’ private practice has been almost exclusively in Criminal Law.  For most of that time she has focused on serious felonies and murder cases and has represented hundreds of clients charged with those serious offenses.   She has tried more than fifteen murder cases, most of them cases where the State was seeking the death penalty.  Recently Ms. Dubs was involved in a post-conviction case where the defendant was granted a new trial after having been convicted of murder and sentenced to death.
